Matthias Wählisch studied computer science and contemporary German literature at Freie Universität Berlin. He continues his research at the Computer Systems & Telematics group there. He is an associated member of the Internet Technologies research group at HAW Hamburg. Matthias started professional activities at the networking group of the computer centre of FHTW Berlin. He is the cofounder of link-lab, a start-up company in the field of next generation networking. His major fields of interest lie in efficient, reliable, and secure Internet communication.
Matthias is involved in several national and international projects. He acquired more than 1,9M EUR of grant money. Matthias has been on the TPC of several international conferences (e.g., IEEE ICC, IEEE LCN, IEEE CCNC) and workshops (e.g., HotPOST). He has co-chaired and co-organized several international scientific events (e.g., IEEE ICNP PhD Forum, IEEE LCN'12, Dagstuhl Seminar). He is a guest editor of Elsevier Computer Communications. He published more than 100 referred papers in international workshops, conferences, journals, books, and the IETF/IRTF. He is a member of ACM, IEEE, IEEE ComSoc, and USENIX.
Matthias received some awards, e.g., the Young Talents Award of the Leibniz-Kolleg Potsdam for Outstanding Achievements in Advancing the Internet and its Applications, and the Chester W Sall Memorial Award 2012.
